*Side note: Tteokbokki is a Korean spicy rice cake. It is usually serve as a side dish, snack or street food. This Tteokbokki recipe is the simplest and easiest ever with just 5 ingredients.
Ingredients:
-1 cup rice cake (dduk/tteok)
-2 tsp Korean spicy bean paste (gochujang)
-2 tsp sugar
-1 tsp soy sauce
-3/4 cup water
Instructions:
1. 1 cup of rice cakes is about 5-6 oz. Defrost frozen rice cakes.
2. Add water, gochujang, and sugar to pan and bring to a boil on a medium-high heat.
3. Add the tteokbokki tteok to the gochujang water and lower the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 8-10 minutes.
Serve hot and Enjoy!!
**Recipe note: When doing tteokbokki, fresh rice cakes are always preferable since the frozen ones end up dry and cracked but either one is fine (do what's better for your budget/availability). You can add boiled eggs, fish cakes, veggies, firm tofu or meats at your preference for added texture, making the dish heartier.

Cooking it now 💜 one suggestion is to stir occasionally while it simmers so it doesn’t stick to the pan. 💜 I made mine with chicken and held back on the gochujang a bit at first because last time I used it it was almost too spicy 😅 any recommendations on ratio of ingredients for a little extra sauce without quite as much kick? It is still really really delicious though! Soooo good! 😍
